Addons & Taxes

More often than not, there are mandatory or optional fees that apply to a reservation. Extra services provided by the business, and even access to other secured spaces based on what customer selects during booking process are common examples.

Different types of such fees can be defined in WiseIngress, and then enabled for each amenity or resource as needed. Combination of these options makes the system very flexible and can cover almost any business scenario.

Addons & Taxes List​

To see the list of all addons and taxes defined under you account, select Addons & Taxes under Administration in left sidebar. The list is initially empty for a new account. As many items as needed can be added and managed on this page.

Add a New Addon or Tax​

To add a new item, click on the plus button on top right corner. See below for exlpanation of how different options affect the behavior of system when it comes to making a reservation by users.

  • Name: This is what users will see during reservation process. It should describe the fee, addon service or tax. For example, "Cleaning fee", "Sales tax", "Access to the lounge", etc.

  • Type: There are four types for different business use cases.

  1. Included Service: if this type is selected, the service or access is automatically included in the reservation free of charge. This type, combined with 'Provides access to an amenity' explained below, can be used in scenarios where accessing a secured space (like a party room or sports facility) requires unlocking a common smart lock (like front door). When configured properly, the system will generate PIN code to access the common area in addition to the PIN code used to access the main space or service.

  2. Addon Service: items of this type will be presented to the user during the booking process and the user can optionally select them. Rate (price) of Addon Services selected by the user are added to the final payable amount.

  3. Mandatory Fee: for this type the Rate is always added to the payable amount. Popular examples of this type are "Online Booking Fee" and "Cleaning Fee".

  4. Tax: usually set as a percentage. It will be calculated for the main price and all 'Taxable' services, and added to the final payable amount. Multiple tax types can be applied to one reservation.

  • Rate: amount or percentage for this service or tax. Always 0 for Included Service.

  • Percent: enable for percentage-based rates such as tax.

  • Rate Type: how the Rate will be calculated based on number of slots, number of people or per whole booking.

  • Taxable: enable if for this service tax should be calculated and added to the Rate. Always disabled for items of type Tax.

  • Provides access to an amenity: connects this item to an amenity or secured resource. If the service is part of the reservation (either automatically as Included Service, or manually as Addon Service) the system will generate PIN code for the connected amenity as well.

Edit Addon or Tax​

To edit an item, click on the pencil icon in front of it. Please note some values can not be edited if an addon or tax has already been used in one or more reservations.

Delete Addon or Tax​

To delete an item, click on the trash icon. Addons and taxes cannot be deleted if they have been used in one or more reservations. If an item should no longer be applied to reservations of an amenity or resource, it can be disabled in policies and settings of that amenity instead of being deleted from the list.

Enabling Addon or Tax for Amenities​

Addon services, fees and taxes can be enabled or disabled for each amenity under Policies tab. See Policies & Booking Settings for more information.
